This is a Spanish translation of the illustrated book Adam Wakes Up To A Day Of Surprises, published at the end of March 2021. Translation by Loree Bendel.
It's based on real-life events and is about a nonspeaking autistic boy named Adam. He wakes up to what he thinks is going to be a normal school day. But he quickly finds out that is not the case. His mom tells him that school is closed, due to a virus that is quickly spreading and making many people sick. She explains they have to wait until the sick people get better, then he can go back to school.
So they wait. Days turn into weeks. And weeks turn into months. As they wait, his family comes up with ways to help Adam cope with the isolation of being at home. But this story is not just about Adam. It's also about how his autism teachers stepped up to help the students during this difficult time.

Who is this book for? While the book is written from the perspective of an autistic child, many people can identify with this story including typical children, parents, teachers and therapists.
Why did I write it? I wanted to help my son understand what was happening on a kid level. I searched Amazon and saw a number of books, but I didn't feel like there was one that could speak to his situation. Especially as someone with autism. So I set out the learn about illustration and book making, you read about in my blog post
